If you have an old VIG or FIG license then this is just 1 license, it can not be split. CP did away with this type of license around the time when express came out.

Moving to distributed environment, the easiest way to go is make sure the licenses where generated as "central" and not "local", then once the FW module is in a separate machine, use Smart Update to identify which of the current licenses is the corresponding one for the Management and attach the other to your new FW module. The other guys are right (I missed that point before), moving from NG to NGX you need to go with a license upgrade on the SmartCenter and get a new file with the 2 upgraded licenses.
