As an additional remark, especially when going from windows to a
unix-like platform, if you ever have edited a conf file on windows, and
didn't use a proper editor, you can have issues when transferring it to
a non windows platform. I had this problem a few years ago when going
from a Windows (customer did edit some files himself - AND it was
completely working on windows) to a Solaris system. Only when performing
a policy install, and thus compiling the policy problems appeared, and
it takes quite some troubleshooting to find exactly which file and what
had happened...

export/import tool since if I perform the export I need to use a import
over the same platform, can I ?

That is not at all in true. Ever since the tool is there we use it cross
platform quite a lot.
