You can find some example scripts at Lance Spitzner's site 
(http://www.enteract.com/~spitzner) which has some good info on doing this.

Basically, as I understand it, you just create a user defined script which parses the 
log alert and add's it to the table.

If anyone knows how to do both, log to a SQL table and to the standard logfile I'd be 
very interested to hear it.
