All, I am having a problem related to FTP from one of my subnets. Other subnets on the network have no problem at all. All traffic is going through the same FW1sp5 running on NT4sp6a. Any FTP attempt from the main network, where all of my clients reside, to certain .gov sites does not work with a "Connection closed by remote host" error. When viewing the logs for the failure, I see that the FTP server is trying to connect back to the client on random ports in the "Service" field, using FTP under the "S_Port" field. After 3-10 attempts, the error message "Connection closed by remote host" appears on the clients screen. If I try to connect to the exact same FTP server from a different subnet, the connection is established immediately and I never see any connect back attempts from the FTP server. Any ideas what could be causing the difference? I have checked the FW1 mail list archives on SecurePoint website and haven't found anything similar. I have enabled and disabled PAS! V FTP in the policy properties, with the exact same results.
