Hello!
Here's the deal: my facility has Checkpoint FW-1 version 4.1
running on a Sun Ultra 60 with Solaris 2.7 in 32-bit mode.
Now, we want to use our Fore ESX-2400 with the Firewall Agent
software, but we are running into several problems.
The biggest problem seems to be Fore(Marconi?) technical support.
Depending on who we have talked to at Fore, we've heard
the following:
1) A UNIX box (any flavor) cannot host the FW-1 software for use with
the ESX2400. The ESX2400 requires an NT host as the FW-1 host.
2) UNIX is ok, but the Sun must have two NICs to the ESX2400
(and therefore be a router, which defeats the purpose of
using the ESX2400?)
3) The setup works as advertised (UNIX and one NIC), but so far
we have seen no documentation about configuring the Sun
and what settings are required for the FW-1 host
(i.e. routing tables, etc.)
4) VPN and NAT are not supported, with no future plans.
5) VPN and NAT are not supported, but will be in June.
Does anyone have a setup with a Sun running FW-1 and only
one NIC card working with the ESX2400 and it's FW agent?
If so, any details on the configuration of both would be
greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Marty
