Hi
This is just a quick update for anyone following thread re: Training issues
(poor quality, lack of slides etc.):-
1. Reseller's position is that CP state that slides must not be passed onto
students
Comment: Okay - so they need to "protect" their materials BUT if they can't
give out the slides then the quality/content of the student packs needs to
improve as some of the slides have clear/concise diagrams explaining FW-1
mechanisms which appear nowhere in the student packs
2. CP's position on the general complaints is that they don't get enough
specific complaints - they appear to be accepting that they have received a
significant number of complaints but need more info so they can change
areas.
Comment: I have received quite a few reponses to my original posting - some
from training companies sharing my concerns - who have already mailed CP
several times, with details, without any action. I can only assume that CP
have decided that they have printed too many student packs to get them
changed - it would cost them too much - and that they have decided that
they will save the money and take the flak - not very helpful for their
customers.
3. I have asked to retake CCSE (2 days) part of my combined CCSA/CCSE but
have not yet any response on this
Comment: TBA
I have taken many courses over the years and though not all were perfect
they were of a reasonable quality and the student materials more or less
matched those used by the trainer (except fot the usual trainer's
annotations/prompters, of course). Cisco courses (via Learning Tree) , in
particular, were excellent for their student materials and they even issued
a comprehensive book on configuring routers to complement the standard
student packs.....if only Checkpoint and their business partners had such
an approach......(we can dream can't we ?)....
