I have the same problem with the 'unknown' first byte when using NAT. I
think it is a display problem in the log only. In my case, the 'unknown'
byte only appears if the byte value is > 128 and the displayed value is
always 128 less than the value it should be. In other words, somebody strips
the MSB bit from the value when displaying it.
