Obvious really to keep the firewall setup clear and simple.
Stupid Qu #2

Given that I have no cash for a new server - What do you reckon to a proxy
server on my IIS Web Server in the DMZ for a small 50 user site such as
mine?
Daft or not?
Thanks,
Shane

Subject: RE: [FW1] A Proxy Server on FW-1 Question
Shane,
If anybody successfully attacks the proxy server, they can gain full
access to your network - the firewall should be nothing but a firewall. The
more services / apps that are running on a box, the more potential exploits
there are - keep it simple.

Subject: [FW1] A Proxy Server on FW-1 Question
I might be asking an obvious question but I'm running FW-1 on my NT4 server,
why shouldn't I put MS Proxy (or other) server onto the same box? What am I
risking?
I can't afford expensive software / hardware at the moment but I'm looking
to generate management reports on web access by user / time / URL sort of
thing.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Shane
