Wouldn't it have stopped "managing itself" when you altered the 
masters file? Or perhaps when you did the putkeys?  I don't think 
the logs will tell you anything unless one tried to connect to the fw 
after the management station was made live. In that case, you 
would look for failed ctl connections.  Perhaps the date the ESC 
license was installed on the management station would be an 
accurate date.  Did you look through /var/adm/messages?? -BK
