In order to make sure the system is secure - properly secure - you have to
set it up in a very specific order, and remove things in a very specific
order or they break. I could build a server in an hour, but it wouldn't be
very nice >:-(
I guess I'm just a perfectionist.

Now to set the cat amongst the pigeons (the part I like).
I don't think you can go past a (properly hardened) NT server for ease of
configuration and deployment. People like to make fun of WindozeNT, but let
them. I've spent a lot of time gathering the right tools to make the job
easy, which you have to do no matter what OS you deploy on. I suppose it
comes down to a personal preference and what you feel comfortable with. For
mine it's NT. Using a set of well defined answer files, scripts,
auto-installers, batch files and check lists, I can turn an NT server around
from packaging to built in under a day. All you need to do then is plug it
in and install a policy!
Now to sit back and see what this generates.
