The problem is often that you have a PCMCIA NIC adapter and that it
retained the IP of the system when it was last on your office LAN.
Windows NT and 9x will use that NIC instead of your dialup connection if
it thinks it is a "better route".
Just eject the NIC or release the IP address if DHCP, and it should start
working.
