Hi Patrick,
Cliff Notes version: LANdesk sucks.
Sorry -- I don't have a solution to your problem, but
we have had a nightmare with that product. Please
allow me to whine and moan :)
I had to remove the CHERNOBYL (CIH) on every .exe file
on my PC, as well as the Happy99 and a few others
using my ol' faithful: freeware DOS F-Prot!
(www.datafellows.com). LANdesk said my PC was fine.
I also had Back Orifice (client and server) on my PC
(to play with and see what it did) -- and LANDesk
didn't find that, either.
Are you scared yet? I was...
The freeware version of f-prot, which runs in DOS,
found them all.
We also spent much time on getting the updates to
propagate to all of our Novell/NT boxes. That was
sporadic at best.
We run McAfee now -- as well as eSafe. I, of course,
still run F-Prot. God bless F-Prot :)
I understand that Symantec is now used for the virus
engine in LANdesk. They obviously know their product
stinks and are trying to salvage the ship. Good move
on their part, but you best check that it works! It
didn't for us. Fair warning!
I will push for F-prot CVP/AV once our eSafe license
expires.
Good Luck! -- Chris
