On another note. The website says that E-safe will run under W2K, but on
checking with their tech support that is incorrect.

They are supposed to update their site.

Subject: [FW1] Esafe update info

Hi! Since there have been many queries regarding Esafe, and gateway blocking
of vandals, I thought I would post this email that I recently received from
Aladdin.

Dear eSafe Gateway customer / partner;

Aladdin has released today an upgrade for eSafe Gateway ver 2.1.

This new upgrade (Build 100) incorporates a new HeaderVerify(tm) technology,
which provides
generic Proactive Protection from hackers' email trying to exploit the
Buffer Overrun bug in
Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, that was discovered last week
(see http://www.ealaddin.com/home/csrt/valerts.asp#urgent ).

The new generic protection verifies email header structure at the gateway
and protects all the
computers behind eSafe Gateway in the organization even if they have not
installed the Microsoft
patch (see: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS00-043.asp
).

The new eSafe Gateway ver 2.1 build 100 can be downloaded from:
                  http://www.eAladdin.com/esafe/downloads/gateway.asp

Other changes in this build 100:
1. Fixed a problem of not inspecting emails send to email address that is
defined to receive alerts from ESG
2. If the license expires, Safe Gateway will continue working but the
update will not be possible.
3. Fixed a problem with email attachments encoded in BASE64.
4. Fixed a problem with attachments with non-english names.
5. Fixed a problem that in some emails the disclaimer was enter in the
middle of the body.
6. A new OLE scanner (Macro viruses) was implemented (fixes problems of
100% CPU in complex XLS files).
7. Default configuration improvements:
     - Add more extensions to the dangerous scanning list.
     - Defeat timeout is in High.
     - Add the VBS, SHS, HTA, JSE, JS, SHB, WSE, VBE extension to the
blocking role of SMTP.
8. Latest virus tables from the 16/7/ 00

Sincerely,

Aladdin CSRT - Content Security Response Team
