I posted a response to a similar problem a short time ago which affects version
4.0 with Win95.
I know 98 suffers from the same problem but am not sure if the later versions of
SR are susceptible to it.
Not sure if this will resolve your problems but it is worth a try.....
If Windows is issued an IP address via DHCP and then shutdown and started away
from the LAN, the IP address is not released by the operating system so the NIC
still has an address assigned to it and SR gets very confused and does not know
it has to send encrypted data out through the modem to the destination.
If you run winipcfg.exe (or ipconfig under Win98 DOS) you will see that the IP
address is still bound to the NIC.
You will need to apply the Microsoft patches and registry hack for Win98 which
are on their web site..... not sure where exactly so good luck with that one.
The registry entry is the same for 95 & 98.... the following key should be
added... extract from a .REG file
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\DHCP]
"ReleaseLeaseOnShutdown"=dword:00000001
For Win95 you need the Winsock 2 update and the VDHCP update.
Apologies if this is way off the mark but I hope it helps.
Cheers

Subject: [FW1] Securemote and Windows98
Anyone knows if Securemote 4.1 has some problem on Windows 98 platforms?
The client gets correctly the data from the server, and I can create the site
object, but when I try to connet the client to the server ftp (the server beyond
the firewall) the securemote doesn't start encrypting although the site is
included in the encryption-domain.
Thanks
Gabriele
