Sounds familiar. 

What I've done in similar situations, is to move the mails from the fw 
spool directory to another place, then move back a few of them and if 
this doesn't help, restart mdq. Repeat it until all mails are 
successfully delivered.

I know it's somewhat strange, but it worked for me.

Once the fourth or fifth restart of mdq crashed FW-1 completely...

Fortunatly we didn't experience this problem for some time now.

Better solution anyone?
