Add a -v to the sendmail command and it will show you exactly what it is
doing while it is trying to make the connection to your mail server. Pretty
easy to troubleshoot after that.

Subject: RE: [FW1] how can I enable an alert to send me an e-mail?? I
have tried man y different commands, to no avail.
I haven't got the FW1 sendmail command to work on my NT FW4.1 sp2 box yet
but...
Type .fw-path.\bin\sendmail - this'll list the parameters
I was told that ICMP must be open for this to work. (Haven't tried it yet)
If it works from the command line. Use the same command in the appropriate
part of Rule 0 (properties).
Like I say - it doesn't work on mine yet - just hangs there :-(
