I've posted about this before, and had talked to my support group
(Westcon). I have FW1 4.1 SP1 on NT4SP6a. I was getting a Dr.Watson in
the fw_strong.exe (VPN functionality) about every 3 weeks. This was quite
annoying, but not as severe as when I updated to SP2.

The update to SP2 causes the fw_strong.exe to Dr. Watson more than once per
day. When this started, I rolled back to SP1 and called support. They
figured it was to do with my 3COM NICs in my server. I had 2 IBM cards in
my IBM Netfinity, and had stuck 2 3COM cards in (external interface and
internal lan are on the IBM cards). I replaced the 3COM cards (DMZs) with
an Intel Dual Port Adapter.

After I installed the Intel NIC(s), I figured I'd be adventurous and try
SP2 again. It is crashing every 3-4 hours when the VPN is being used. I
tried a uninstall again, but unfortunately something went wrong and the FW1
service wouldn't start. So, I rolled back to 4.1 SP1 and there will still
problems, so I rolled back to 4.1SP0. From there I reinstalled 4.1SP1
(with the hotfix), and finally I get things operating again.

Has anyone had problems with IBM NICs? Who makes these, are they actually
IBM? I was thinking of maybe switching the Intel NIC(s) to be my external
inteface and internal lan interface to see if that helped matters. I'd
really like SP2 so that I could try this UDP encapsulation with SecureRemote.

Any thoughts/tips would be appreciated.

(Oh, to top things off, my ADSL modem died yesterday, dropping all of our
Internet connectivity for several hours while we tried to figure out what
happened. I'm not very popular around here, but such is life.)
