Without knowing how you have attempted to set this up, I can't be sure where your issue might be. Here is the key point.
 
About the only difference between SR pre VRRP and after is that you have to create a way for the SR Client to reach the management station. So, in most configurations you would be setting up a Static NAT to the Management.. I hate the way it feels doing that, but when I look at how we were configured before, we had all FW modules on one Sparc, it is similar with an added layer of protection.
 
Other than that, nothing is jumping out at me as something that has been changed.

Are wanting to know if you can run a pair of Nokia's with VRRP as the HA device and still use your SR? Yes you can..

I thought you were wanting to know if during failover, will the SR client stay active. If this is your question, I have never tried that..
