At http://www.checkpoint.com/products/vpn1/prodspecs.html, it distinctly
says that the VPN-1 Appliance 330 supports VRRP. See the leftmost column
under "Routing Protocols".

What leads you to believe that RL50s don't support VRRP? What does support
VRRP? What does RL50 mean in this context?
