I beg to differ.....
You just don't want to pay the price for an ASIC firewall, they START about
420K and go easily up to 2M+
just to name two:

Marconi is about to de-classify their OC48 Firewall
Are their limitations to ASIC firewalls, yes.
You still have to run the packet up the stack to check it, that plays havoc
on any firewall.
