Checkpoint has documents in their public configuration documents section on
setting up a VPN between Cisco Pix and a Cisco router with IPSEC IOS loaded.
I have personally setup VPNs with both. One thing to note is that the VPN
throughput on a Cisco 2500 series was not that high. I would go with either
1700 or 2600 series router depending on what interfaces you need on the
router. I know you did not want another Checkpoint VPN-1 module but the new
Checkpoint 5 user Small office license and a security appliance like
Intrusion.com's PDS2100 or the Nokia IP110 with be very comparably priced to
a Cisco 2600 and the IOS firewall/IPSEC feature set.
