Don't run FW-1 on W2K.  A number of things don't work properly with it, although this is nothing to do with the problems you're having atm.  It's really only capable of running the GUI portion of Check Point. Your other points:   1)  Interfaces should be starting faster than this.  Do you have anything bound to them that shouldn't be ? 2)  You'll see these messages if the packet filter module is not loaded.  Is this a distributed or standalone install ?   Are there any other error messages (event log / fw log viewer) you see during startup ?   Tim     ----- Original Message ----- From: Aeon To: checkpoint Sent: Monday, July 09, 2001 3:22 PM Subject: [FW1] fw1 and Wn2k Need some help badly.  I'm setting up a new firewall (FW1 4.1 sp3 on Win2k Advanced Server).  OS is installed and hardended, firewall is installed and policy is in place.  I'm all set to put this machine online next sunday and now i'm getting tons of problems.  Main two problems are:   1.  Interfaces take about 5 minutes to come online upon reboot which causes the firewall not to detect a license installed, thus a policy is not active.  So when the interfaces finally decide to work, I have to run fwstop and fwstart in order to even log onto the policy.  In the NT event log, i get firewall-1 license errors due to the fact that it didn't recognize the interface the firewall is licensed to.   2.  After I run fwstop and fwstart and I can get into the policy, when I try to push policy (or do an FW STAT on the command line), I get error "unable to open "\device\fw1": the system cannot find..blah blah..."   So I was supposed to put this thing online for testing tomorrow morning, but I doesn't seem like it wants to work for me.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks,   Aeon Hale Accenture
