Very credible. Don't know how widely recognized the certification is, just because i don't know how widely recognized any certification is. I have their security essentials course under my belt, and i thought it was stupid while i was in class, but after finishing the test and practical it turned out to be well worthwhile. They are also non-profit and not biased toward any product. They give You the theoretical background necessary to understand the fundimentals of every product and security in general.

I am a newbie to the security world and have an opportunity to take some
course at a SANS GIAC security conference. My question is, Is SANs a
credible organization to take course with as the are offering their brand of
