In addition to what else has been said, I can add that I did not implement a strlen() equivalent method, because I feel like that is too lenient as a criteria for pulling input from the "cage." I haven't kept up very well lately, but if we want to provide a more sophisticated solution (not as a substitute for the simple solution) that allows people to chain filters, a strlen() equivalent would make sense. (This solution might already exist, since I think Christopher had something like this planned.) Chris
