Paul,

LOL, yes, probably many of us share similar thoughts and got a good chuckle out of your rant. However, even bad or wacky ideas sometime lead to good ones, and we are trying to provide a comprehensive list in the true spirit of brainstorming:

Good summary of how to do a successful brainstorming.

And a bad one:

I purposely included *all* ideas discussed so that we can hopefully be creative and find the best way for the ZF. At this time, we are still trying to brainstorm new ideas and synthesize combinations previously not considered.

Cheers,
Gavin

In conclusion, no one has yet proposed a solution that fits the ideal above. I've summarized various syntactical ways of working with factories in PHP:

Whoever suggested this particular tidbit ...

        for ($i = 0; $i < $argsCount; $i++) {
            $argsString .= ($comma ? ', ' : '') . "\$args[$i]";
            $comma = true;
        }

        return eval("return new $className($argsString);");

... should feel embarrassed for even daring to suggest it as anything other than as something to avoid at all costs.

My brain tried to pull my eyes out of their sockets and up into my skull to keep me from having to look at it; it's that bad.
