www.php-editors.com is a good start if you are looking at a listing of different ones.

My experience with Zend Studio is good, very good infact.

I personally use Eclipse with the PHP Eclipse Plugin, but I have a niche need (i think).
I work (interchangeably) with PHP, Java, Coldfusion,  _javascript_, and Xml (not counting using both a SVN and VSS repository and 3 types of db's!)

That's at work, at home I have Zend Studio (I have the student licence since I'm a computer science major with a specialization in web-based systems). I loved it out of the box and still do after about a year now.

p.s.
As far as your 'complaints' about Zend Studio:
   - 'not working with vista' is an issue that is facing ALOT of the vendors in the software application industry
   - it was *your* choice to install windows, not Zend's.
p.s.2
   - do some research next time before posting to a list, especially one supported by the company you are gonna flame: Googling 'php editor reviews' and hitting 'I'm feeling Lucky' got me the site I mentioned above. That's not counting the hundreds of forum posting that came up in a regular search.

Hello,

I'd appreciate any pointers for the best place to discuss PHP IDE
preferences with experienced PHP developers.

I know this list is definitely *not* the right place, so please send me
replies privately and I'll summarize.

(I've had it with Zend Studio 5.  It's a "known issues" that it doesn't work
with Vista and there's no timeline to fix it, and the "rental" model means
that I can't even get the incremental update that would fix it without
purchasing another license.  Plus, it's just a bad Windows app and I don't
like using it.)
