Hi Andries,
I didn't think the presentation by Mr. Aulke was lacking, perhaps just
not for the correct audience. There was a brief reference to a document
at Oracle (I assume it is:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/pdf/developing-php-zend-framework-oracle-core.pdf)
written by mr. Aulke and that is extremely explanatory and well written.
I felt the presentation more along these lines would have hit the target
better.
Some (in my opinion) questions/comments made by some parts of the
audience, such as:
- No, i tried Zend_Search, it just DOESNT work
- Zend_Soap_Server doesn't even exist
- etc ...
where very unplaced, and didn't make things easier for Mr. Gaylor
Aulke. Above that, introducing a new framework, with tons of
features, and going into use-case details + marketing in a 45 minute
session is tough.
The comments made by the audience where also unfair in my eyes but they
do convey a point that should not be ignored or dismissed. People are
using the framework and it's coming up short of their expectations.
Personally, I think this doesn't have so much to do with the framework
or the code, but more with the lack of proper introduction and overall
documentation. And that is something I wanted to bring a little
attention to.
Kind regards,
Ramon de la Fuente
