Now imagine that number of files like 'something.php' in your example are
several hundreds and they reside in 20-30 directories going 2-3 levels down 
and you will understand my problem ... What I'm trying to do is slowly,
step-by-step, replacing existing functionality with Zend Framework
approaches/patterns but at the same time leaving old functionality in place.

I'm sure there should be some elegant way around 'passby' issue.
