I have just realised I worded my initial question wrongly and for that I
apologise. It was meant to enquire as to whether we needed to manually add
it or whether the file element would add it for us (or in fact could / would
i be a good idea). Not whether we should in fact still use it.

My thoughts on having this automatically entered would be (written before I
realised I'd worded my question wrongly!), I am using the file form elements
to aid my processing of files being uploaded, my point is not whether to use
it or not, more a simple question as to if the file element should in fact
initiate it?

The file elements are in place before any files are uploaded and I would of
thought this (as you say, a security element) would be an essential part of
any upload. Therefore when using the form file elements why should it not
add this additional field?

Sorry for the confusion.
