Both of the lists are related to PHP. So if somebody who's not on Zend List but is on PHP List, he can help me out.
This is true but many users are *not* on both lists which means that replies will get fragmented and while you may have been given an answer on one list, this may not get posted to the other. When a user takes time out to help you they may be doing so unnecessarily (as a solution is given in the other list).
To do this cross posting is thus quite selfish. You may get what you want from it, but other people reading one of the lists may not. That's why cross posting is considered bad netiquette.
You should ask your questions on the most appropriate list. If that does not illicit any responses you can then ask an alternative list and perhaps reference in your writing that you originally asked in the xyz-mailing list <link to message archive>, but got no response so are asking the abc mailing list to see if they can offer assistance.
Sticking the these very standard rules increases the likelihood of people taking time out to help.
I hope this helps. Col -- Colin Guthrie gmane(at)colin.guthr.ie http://colin.guthr.ie/ Day Job: Tribalogic Limited [http://www.tribalogic.net/] Open Source: Mandriva Linux Contributor [http://www.mandriva.com/] PulseAudio Hacker [http://www.pulseaudio.org/] Trac Hacker [http://trac.edgewall.org/]
