Hah, well I did write a nntp client library with PHP for a project I started
a couple years ago (but shelved as it was more a personal interest more than
anything else. So yeah :)

Actually the real objective was to archive the Zend Framework lists on my
development server (along with a couple other lists) for quick access, with
a web interface. I guess after some rambling thoughts on the whole idea,
what I am really looking to do is a web based mail client (slightly
customized to manage mailing lists).
The more I get into nabble (just started using nabble a few days ago), the
less I am actually thinking about putting something together to archive the
mailing lists I subscribe to (well at least for Zend it is looking more and
more redundant).
The post by Nico rearranged my perspective on what I was trying to
accomplish and I think if I actually get around to it, the solution really
lies within Zend_Mail_Message. Ultimately it was just supposed to be a
quick and dirty personal mailing list manager that I could archive my lists
and separate them from my mail. (My *cough* Outlook mail folders are
getting rather full and bulky, even though everything is filtered nicely
upon receipt).
Thanks
