I think you should study in more depth the framework. It is very a powerful framework, and "unfortunately" very, very flexible framework and therefore not so easy to start from scratch.
I think the best way would be to install and get the working demo app from http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/learning.quickstart.intro.html Quickstart . Than you can start to change it, play with it and learn the framework in that process.
