I will give it a try. Since it is only one request I could probably live
with it. I rather try to solve some other performance issues for the
page loading before I really track that down.

Well, I didn't create that widget. A friend of a friend helped out on
it. So I can't say much about that. As long as it works, it looks ok to me.

Yes, it is the template for a widget. The GroupedFilteringSelect
provides a solution to realize a select like the <optgroup> tag provides
for HTML.
