My concern is updates. This is my main reason behind using a distro's package management. Upgrades are easy across many machines. However, sometimes the maintainers break things. Depending on the distro, sometimes they destroy things. So I'm keen on investigating other deployment methods if they are stable, secure, and maintainable.
