It seems like I would have to remove filters that 

* trim
* strip tags
* strip newlines

to make it work half the way I'm used to from ZF1.

Seems, though, like this is more an issue out of the scope of the framework, as 
it's connected with user experience issues, isn't it?

Sounds like a great solution to me.
