That solved the problem. This is more of a general practice question regarding a REST api not using sessions. I am assuming your REST api development has never included an authenticated REST service? I suppose I like the idea of tracking the authenticated sessions over a REST (XMLHttpRequest) or simply HTTP 1/1 request.
