Interesting idea - use the source port to differentiate.  I've added a ticket
on this through github.

For the 1.9 client, have you installed the FKO perl extension by chance?
This uses libfko in order to build SPA packets, and allows the older perl
code to continue to function.  Another possibility might be to switch to
using gpg to encrypt/decrypt SPA packets.
