To it's credit, Fedora was a pretty good distro up until these last couple of years. It was a good desktop distro (at it's time) and it was a good server distro. And when apt-rpm was available for it along with synaptic, that was actually kind of nice.
Fedora made some blunders technically, like forcing people into 3rd party repos to get things like codecs. And then users screwed themselves over when those repos started replacing Core's mainline packages, and yum offered no protection to the end user. When such a scenario happened, yum offered no way to downgrade or back out the offending packages either. Of course, if they had supported apt-rpm instead of yum, said scenario would have been relatively minor to fix. But, Fedora screwed themselves by dropping support for apt-rpm based repos. Why? Because apt-rpm was redundant since they had yum. So, there you go.
