So I have a couple issues with my MythTV box now. They are not all related,
thankfully. Just as a reminder, I am using a Avermedia A180 to tune in
over-the-air digitial HD stations. My TV is standard def and I use an S-Video
cable to connect the computer to it.
1) Some channels (e.g. NBC_1) appear small. I think I understand why this is
happening. On shows that are not produced for wide-screen, the station adds
vertical black bars to the wide-screen picture. My settings for MythTV adds
horizontal black bars to any wide-screen picture. Net result, the picture
is framed by horizontal and vertical black bars and appears to only occupy
the inner half of my TV. Now I can set the "zoom" level to eliminate this
problem, but then all the standard-def stations appear to have their outer
edges cropped. So is there a way to set MythTV to zoom on a
channel-by-channel basis?
2) Ben, after upgrading to the trunk version of MythTV, I ran into a problem
with the plugins. The solution was to install an update for all the
plugins. Unfortunately, that has somehow introduced the same Flash Player
problem we solved on Thursday. I'm a bit confused by that, however, because
I thought the problem with the FlashPlayer not working was caused by having
an old version of ffmpeg installed. I thought we fixed that by installing
a more recent version of ffmpeg which does not seem to have been
changed. Here is the output of apt-cache to prove that last point:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache showpkg ffmpeg

Thanks for any help!
