I was thinking the very same thing myself.  AMD sued over that.

There are IA64 binaries out there (apparently). 

It might just as simple as switching the directory to where the
libraries are.  Is there a directory named "64" or "64bit" or "IA64" in
the MKL dist?  It might just be that the libs are nemed the same but in
a different path.  If so, use "-L" during compilation.
