I recall someone at the last meeting mentioned that they had attempted to use TurboTax's online tax preparation software but had come up against problems; their conclusion was that it barfs on Linux.
I just wanted to write to add my experience to that conversation: I've just used TurboTax on Linux, without problems. I'll qualify that by saying I used the Basic package (the one that ends up costing $50 to file Federal and State, regardless of what they advertise it as on their front page, or $30 more if you have them take their money out of your refund rather than paying it with a credit card) since I don't own a home yet, and so don't really have any reason to go the more complicated (and more expensive) route. It might well not work on the Premium packages. Now to walk the dog and get the bed. Goodnight! Simón P.S. As a dual citizen, let me just suggest that once in your life you should experience the joy of explaining how we deal with taxes in the U.S. to a foreigner. Then have them (wherever they're from) explain to you how their country deals with taxes. _______________________________________________ Fwlug mailing list [email protected] http://fortwaynelug.org/mailman/listinfo/fwlug_fortwaynelug.org
