I missed the video driver question. It is my understanding that none of the companies on the list do/did a great job of releasing code. Intel releases the specs, VIA just caved in and is releasing but was not for many years. ATI was reverse engineered before they released, and NVidia was releasing binary only drivers that worked some of the time.
Wait it might come across that I am bitter. Well I am not bitter, I am happy with my #9 Image128 graphics card and you can pry it from my cold dead hands. It even works with BEOS... I did love the C++ question. What a joke....
