Thanks, Rob was right it wasn't a big problem. I had installed the GUI
correctly but it wasn't working with Putty all I could get was a CLI. I had to
hook KVM directly to use GUI on the server. I might have been able to
reinstall Putty and gotten it working but I uninstalled Putty. I enabled VMC
(Remote Desktop) on the server and plan to access the server with Tight VMC
remotely from my network and outside the network.

My other issue that I think needs to be solved first is with settings for a
static route to the server. I like the idea of using 2 Ethernet
connections for security with the server in between the Internet and the
network. I'd
like to have a static IP for a web site on this server and an IP for the
tunnel to access the server for remote administration. I'm still working on
this by trial and error. I'm unsure of the best course but who isn't.

Thanks,
Joe F.

I haven't played with putty lately, but with "ssh -X" on ubuntu, the
DISPLAY variable is set to the ssh tunnel it creates. I was thinking
putty has the same behavior.

Googling the error seems to suggest it's not a major issue.

Generally speaking, if you're setting up a firewall, then two would be
appropriate.

If it's just routing, it's possible to use just one with a multi-homed
card. But it's easier with two.
