I have a Ubuntu laptop that will not boot. I installed Ubuntu 9.x on
another drive and it is running fine. I have a USB cable that plugs
into a laptop drive that I use at work on Windows machines to copy
files. I plugged this into my new Ubuntu machine but "My Computer"
does not seem to see the drive. Should this work or am I missing
something?
Thanks,

FAT or NTFS formatted USB Drive?
If NTFS, you might need special drivers/software on the Linux System.
Most Linux systems can see most types of FAT formatted USB Drives.
Note, I am a windows user planning to convert to Linux in near future.
