I rooted my G1 last summer and have been running the Cyanogen firmware
on it since. The thing I like is being able to install all apps to the
SD card, so I done exhaust the G1's limited internal flash.
I haven't done much with tethering though. I also tried proxoid and
couldn't get it working. I have used tetherbot, which uses the USB
cable and the SDK's debug interface and that works OK for what it is.
