Hey guys - it's been a long time since I posted here or attended the LUG as
I moved to Indy several years ago to work for a startup. I got married last
fall, and my wife and I are preparing to move back to Fort Wayne in the next
month.

I'm looking for an infrastructure position with a small-to-medium-sized firm
in the Fort Wayne area . I know a lot of you are programmers, but I figured
you might have some contacts in need of a SysAdmin/Network Manager with
significant Linux experience. I have an MBA and a BS in Computer
Engineering, and I enjoy hands-on sysadmin and network administration work,
but I'm really looking for a position that also involves long-term project
management, whether that's as the IT manager in a 1-man shop, or an
infrastructure manager in a larger IT department of, say, 5-10 people.

I am strong with Cisco IOS routing/networking, Linux System Administration
(Debian / Ubuntu are my distros of choice although I've done quite a bit of
work on CentOS/RHEL as well), VoIP (especially Asterisk), Fiber Channel SANs
and blade servers. I can do Windows server administration in a pinch, but
most of my Windows work has been with integrating Linux systems into Windows
environments.

I have successfully managed several projects in my most recent position,
including:

- 1 project to deploy a new backup data center and 1 project to build out a
new primary data center
- a project to transform the WAN from 1 single-homed data center to 2
multi-homed data centers, including negotiating carrier contracts
- deploying and testing of 6 in-house built high-availability applications
- managing the infrastructure side of HIPAA and SAS70 compliance projects
- multiple projects each year to deploy new hardware ($2 million of hardware
annually)
- migrating 20 physical servers to a Xen cluster of virtualized machines,
growing this to 60+ VMs over 3 years.
- migrating an old Asterisk system to a FreePBX deployment on new hardware,
including auto-deployment of Cisco phones
- deploying Nagios active monitoring for every device on the network

If your organization or others you know of could benefit from my skills,
would you mind e-mailing me directly or giving me a call? I look forward
to

Jeremy Nelson
