This is "FUN with Perl", not "F**k with people". =o)

It's a legitimate syntax, if somewhat line-noisy.
If you don't like it, find another way to do it.
If you don't need it, then why bother complaining?

Forgive me if I'm out of bounds, but this looks like too good a list to
get personal on.

Personally, I found the whole thing rather enlightening. =o)
