Ahh, thanks for the reference.  I hadn't gotten that far back in the 
archives yet.  After reading, I agree that people should join whichever 
board on which they feel comfortable.  But I still say that to a 
first-timer, the "Beginner"/"Veteran" checkboxes are ambiguous.  A 
one-sentence explanation would go a long ways to making a newcomer feel 
more confident.

However, I should say that the more I read the fwp archives, the more 
intimidated I get!  I didn't realize how much I had handicapped myself 
by not upgrading perl5.6.0->5.6.1!!! :-)
