I don't think a solution is necessary unless the problem is too
complicated to explain or the test code is not provided. For the Secret
Number challenge, the problem was clear and a long solution was fairly
easy to create (although passing all the tests was a bit more work). The
fun part was exploring different algorithms and perl constructs. A naive
solution may be useful for a beginning programmer, but the challenge for
a beginning programmer may be simply to get a working version and this
will be taken away with a hint.

Keep in mind that many people may be playing along at home, so the
posters may represent only a part of the "beginner" golfers.

That said, I probably wouldn't have posted without a separate beginner
board, even though I am a veteran programmer (beginner golfer).
