I usually only use Perl for Fun these days, however a couple of years ago I wrote some pretty horrendous Perl programs for some mission critical output file creation.
I have never been the best Perl programmer but I really liked the language. Would anyone on this list be willing to volunteer to give me some optimization pointers on an old program I wrote if I emailed you the source code? The volume of the output files has increased dramatically in the last couple of months to where before I had maybe 1.5 million records running through the program to now over 4 million and even though the program still works, it takes so long to run that I'm missing my deadline. This may fall under the charter of this list as "look at how terrible this old code I wrote is....". But I'll just send it to anyone who would be willing to help. Dale Nicholson
